KUROFUNE Design Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Masamichi Ueta, hereinafter “KUROFUNE”) and Osaki Electric Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuyasu Watanabe, hereinafter ” Osaki Electric Co., Ltd.) will collaborate in the development of the all-English service apartment business utilizing the smart lock “OPELO” and will carry out test marketing of foreign services with a view to overseas expansion. KUROFUNE plans to open a share house ”U Share Minami Aoyama” with educational services utilizing ”OPELO” in October 2020.

”NEXT 100teX Lab” opened by Osaki Electric in 2018 will lay the foundation of the society for the next 100 years, and will serve as a place to combine various technologies, promoting collaborative creation projects with various partners such as universities, local governments, and venture companies. In collaboration with KUROFUNE, which develops a serviced apartment business for international talents, KUROFUNE will carry out test marketing of services for foreigners with a view of overseas expansion.

Utilizing the smart lock ”OPELO” developed by Osaki Electric, KUROFUNE will realize a new all-English serviced apartment where people of different nationalities, cultures and occupational backgrounds can live, learn and interact with each other while ensuring security.

In October 2020, they plan to open a share house with educational services ”U Share” in Minami Aoyama, which utilizes the smart lock ”OPELO”. In January 2021, they also plan to open a dormitory 3-minute walk from Waseda University for both international students and Japanese students who wish to study abroad.

U Share is a living learning community that integrates ”living” and ”learning”. We will provide a new living environment, all in English so that residents with diverse cultural, linguistic backgrounds can maximize interaction and growth. Centered around the two passionate founders who met at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, we offer a number of intellectually-stimulating events and educational programs so that residents can grow through sharing time, space, and experience with others. In order to thoroughly integrate living and learning, we will carry out real estate development, architecture and space design all at once, and also provide our own all-English educational service.

A smart lock provided by Osaki Electric, that can be easily retrofitted to an existing key. Since it does not require a network, there is no running cost and no risk of communication issues. It can be unlocked by various methods such as IC cards, smartphones, cylinder locks, and PINs, freeing you from the hassle of carrying a key everyday. Since a one-time password can be automatically issued every day, it also frees you from key delivery and management work, allowing remote and automatic unlocking. The password issuance history of who, when and which room the password was issued for will be recorded, which improves the security to a great extent.
